Today's blogpost is especially short.
A friend sent me this verse earlier today:
For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and He will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:17
We are on the eve of another election, seemingly more consequential than ever. But why is that? Is it because our view of our political party has become religious? Is it because the news seems to find us, even when we're not looking for it? Is it because it's the end of the world as we know? (Queue 1987 R.E.M. Song)
I think the anxiety and tension swirl for unbelievers because their hope is in their political party and their party's capacity to enact the change they hope for.
I think this is why anxiety swirls for believers too. Politics in our day is a religion. I don't say that lightly.
But Revelation 7:17 reminds us that it is the Lamb who is on the Throne, not the Elephant nor the Donkey - and that Lamb is our Shepherd.
Who will be your Shepherd on Nov 5th, 2024?
It all ends well for believers.
If your candidate doesn't win tomorrow, remember, your party mascot is the Lamb. And He is eternally on the throne. This means Christians can be a calm within a storm of unhappy people. This is an opportunity to point people to the real Hope of the world - Jesus.
"Be not angry that you cannot make others as you wish them to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be." -Thomas a Kempis
